I don’t often post photos of directors. Most people don’t recognize (unless they’re Spielberg, or former actors, like Mel Gibson), or care about them (unless they’re of the still underrepresented fairer sex, or big into the saving the planet or the denouncing personal and fiscal responsibility industries).

This time I will, because this time you’ll want to remember him.

This is Scott Cooper, the guy who dropped the stink bomb on your weekend.

You were sitting ducks. It’s not your fault, it’s his, and the critics’. You thought a big budget western had to be reasonably good, and the critics let on like they loved it…kind of, Rotten Tomatoes has it at 72%, although the audience wasn’t thrilled. Only half of them would recommend it, and at just $12 million for its opening weekend, it’s obviously not the hot ticket at the box office.

Why?

Lots of reasons, but lets start out with this one; It’s too long. Coop thought he was making the Great American Epic Western; too late Cooper, Kostner did it.

And this ain’t no “Dancing With Wolves”.
