From “In the Deep” to in “The Shallows”

Most people seem to want 60 seconds of light talk followed by a thumbs up or down. Not me.

By the time I invest hours reading a screenplay and watching a film, I’m not going to stop at thumbs up or down, I’ve got more to say.

I’m not sure how many people are interested in the nuts and bolts of why films and stories work or don’t work but, that’s what I do, nuts and bolts. Read enough screenplays and watch enough films and you’ll find yourself seeing patterns and wondering how people get millions of dollars to make movies that are doomed to fail.
